Sponsored Teams

Introduction

Sponsored teams have often been a feature of the WRTC events.

Whilst most teams are selected by the defined qualification programme a limited number of stations are set aside for Sponsorship. This allows non-qualifiers to “buy” an entry and provides a valuable funding source to the WRTC budget.

In WRTC 2026 we plan to have two sponsored teams

Sponsored Team

The sponsored team will consist of two members as in the main competition and subject to the same rules. The sponsored team will be treated equally with all other entrants and eligible to win WRTC2026.

The “Sponsor” may be an individual or a group such a contest club.  In the case of Group Sponsorship one member shall be nominated to be the single point of contact for the Group.

The sponsored team may be the Sponsor plus a teammate, or the Sponsor may nominate their two team members. The sponsor and teammate, or sponsored team members may each be from any region Globally as desired.

Bidding Process

The Sponsored teams will be allocated to the two highest bidders in a sealed bid auction of two rounds.

The bidding currency is in US$, although payment may be made once successful in GBP/£ or EUR/€ as convenient and at an agreed equivalent value.

The minimum bid is US$20,000.

Bids will be sent by email to [email protected] only and will be kept confidential by the Finance Director.  Each bid email received will be acknowledged.  Prior to the initial round of bidding questions may be also sent to [email protected] .

Initial bids should be submitted by 30 April 2025

By 6 May 2025, each bidder will be informed of the anonymous values of the bids by email and posted on the WRTC2026 web page.

Each bidder from round one ONLY is then eligible to submit a second and final bid before 31 May 2025. Only initial bidders are eligible to re-bid at the second stage, no new bidders will be allowed at this stage.

The bidders will all be informed of the result by email and public web announcement before 6 June 2025.  In the event of tied bids, the earliest submitted bid by email date/time will take precedence.

The winning bidders will then be required to make full payment by 30 June 2025 and nominate their team members by 30 September.

Anyone trying to subvert the above process prior to the announcement of the results, including contacting any WRTC Organising Committee member other than by using [email protected] , will be immediately banned from further participation with no exceptions.
